Llandrindod Victorian Festival
On Saturday I went to the first day of the Llandrindod Victorian Festival, I found it a bit of a let down I saw a lot of people in modern formal dresses (I think I only saw about 3 costumes that impressed me), and when I looked at the program I noticed there was a class on how to put together a Victorian costume from op shop finds later in the week. It reminds me of all the stories I’ve heard about Ren Faires in the USA, it’s not about telling people about real history but confirming the prejudices they already have about ‘the olden days’. The highlights were meeting two nice couples who were staying at the same B&B, and Louise from the Truly Victorian bulletin board. There was also an exhibit of extant Victorian costumes which was quite fun to look at.
